Cartoonist's satire of Chinese GOV's criticism to Apple

Image
Reported by FT.com, The Chinese government has intensified a co-ordinated public campaign against Apple, slamming the technology group as "dishonest", "greedy" and "incomparably arrogant" and threatening regulatory action if the US company does not improve its after-sales service policies. In an interview program in CCTV, a governmental specialist talked seriously: "(How to interpret the logo of Apple?), you can see it is not a complete apple, it misses a piece, and I think the lacked piece is the symbol of lacked conscience and appreciation of Apple to Chinese consumers." The specialist's words were so amusing that it aroused a heated discussion online. Based on the words, some cartoonist designed a brain logo for him (right on the picture above), satirizing that the specialist is kind of ignorant.

CCTV faked interviews

Image
screenshot of the news report CCTV, the Chinese leading official media, faked a news interview, again. Look at the screenshot above, there is only one interviewee, but she was marked as two different interviewees . This is not the first time for CCTV to fake news interviews. Well, I guest that CCTV has to do this because they have been short of budget now and can not afford the fee for the cast.

China media criticize Apple due to its contact number

Image
Since the March 15th, China official media, such as People Daily and CCTV, have been criticizing Apple Inc. for its discrimination to Chinese market. Some may be puzzled why Chinese mainstream media keep criticizing Apple Inc. since Tim Cook the CEO just visited China. Well, the answer may lie in the official contact number of Apple branch in Beijing: 010-64198900(see picture above). The number is very offensive to Chinese government: do you know what happened in June 4th, 1989? The well-known Tian'anmen Square Slaughter , and Chinese government forbids the public to discuss the incident. So a piece of good advice for Apple Inc. might be: change your official telephone number, if you want to continue your business in China.

Kim Jong-un PSed as Cobbler

Image
As Xi Jinping the new Chinese president states in Russia that " only the wearer knows if the shoe fits his foot ", some netizen posted online an edited photo of Kim Jong-un as a cobbler. Well, it is funny for Xi (and Kim) talks about the relationship of shoes and feet, because the public as the wearer has no rights to change the Shoes even the shoes do not fit. Maybe Xi Jinping wanted to mock Henry Ford's famous saying: You can have any color as long as it's black . Xi's words are: You can have any political party as long as it's Chinese Communist Party .

China: farmers sell polluted wheat to urban areas

Image
Screenshot of the news Xinxiang, Henan province, China. Facing with the depletion of groundwater, local farmers have to make use of waste-water from local paper mills for wheat irrigation while being unable to afford to dig 100-meter-deep groundwater. When asked whether they would dare to eat the irrigated wheat, the farmer interviewed smiled and answered, "No, we sell all the wheat to you (urban people)." Well, too much pollution in China at present, maybe to eat rice is a better choice when travelling to Henan?

Why China is the only friend of North Korea?

Image
Trucks with aided free goods from China to North Korea through Yalu River Almost everyone knows that China is the only friend of North Korea, China provide food, oil to them and even satisfy Kim Jong-un's special luxury needs. Well, The reason why China choose to be the unique friend is simple: China is afraid of being the only one dictatorship regime in the world.

Portray: China's showing-off generosity

Image
China is used to providing lots of money to other countries such as African ones as so-called aid , but it almost forgets its own domestic poverty. To buy so-called friendship is kind of Chinese diplomat tradition since 1949.

Pupils have to pay RMB 1 yuan daily for napping at school

Image
Zhuhai, Guangdong province, China, pupils have to pay RMB 1 yuan daily for napping at school like the picture above in the classrooms, without bed. This regulation has been backed by the local government. Wow, you must be surprised! Charged napping? Is the school so eager for money? or is the local government so poor to have to charge everything they can imagine? Well, As one of the earliest Special Economic Zone, Zhuhai the city can not be so poor, then why? Well, I guess, the reason might be simple: the local government does have money, but it has to afford lots of expense even including bureaucrats' sanitary napkins (based on another news lately on Chinese government staff's compensations), so you can imagine they must find it hard to afford the education, and it is logical to charge everything they can imagine from pupils.

Cartoonist satires that Xi Jinping forgets the domestic poverty

Image
During his visit to Tanzanian, Xi Jinping the new Chinese president, said China would abide by a promise made in 2012 to provide $20 billion in loans over three years for African infrastructure development, farming and businesses. Well, $20 billion, Mr. Xi may have forgotten that lots of domestic areas also need " infrastructure development, farming and businesses ", as the picture below: Mr. Xi's generosity aroused heated debate domestically, and some cartoonist posted online his work to satire the Chinese government's "export-generosity" (translated by me):

Military Expert: US submarine will be twisted by kelp

Image
Zhang Zhaozhong, the well-known military expert, said lately in an interview (screenshot as above): " US nuclear submarine can not come to the Yellow Sea to the west of Korea Peninsula, as Yellow Sea is too shallow, less than fifty meters or so, for submarines. If the submarines be surfaced, the kelp raised by the people and the nylon ropes will twist the submarines. " Well, I don't fake it, this is the very words from the Chinese TOP military expert! They are still used to judging submarines based on the standards of the last century.

Why Spider-man do not come from China?

Image
Spider-man surely do Not come from China, the reason is simple: there are too many jerry-built projects in China, which make you unable to drag something and dangle yourself among buildings. How sad. Maybe many super-heroes die in that way before we know it.

Which is more professional, Xi Jinping or David Beckham?

Why North Korea soldiers so devoted?

Image
It is said from some Chinese media that North Korea launched a series of military  exercise warn South Korea and the US. In the military exercise, they "occupy" Seoul the capital of South Korea in three days and jailed lots of Americans. Well, it is understandable. You can see those North Korea soldiers all excited and devoted, the reason is simple: they were rushing to the South, come on, they were to arm food and freedom , how could they not be excited and devoted?

I have a Chinese daydream

Image
In his inaugural address as Chinese newly-elected president, Mr. Xi Jinping called for a "Chinese Dream". The dream, according to commentators, is to return China to the position it held in the middle ages: the world’s most advanced and civilized nation. Recognizing the spiritual vacuum at the heart of China’s economic miracle, Mr Xi seems keen to fill it with a sense that the country could recreate its glorious history. Well, do you know that Mr Xi said this "I have a Chinese dream" at daytime ? So it is really daydream for Chinese people, at least for those who are poor or not powerful. Whether the nation is wealthy and glory actually is irrelevant with their daily lives. And traditionally, newly-elected Chinese presidents offer some inspiring visions for the public, which never realize, or come true but with big cost.

Unhealthy Thoughts Forbidden

Image
Look at the poster found in Tibet, read the English on it: No Distributing Any Unhealthy Thoughts or Objects . You may be puzzled by the words, what is "Unhealthy Thoughts"? Don't worry, you will never know it. Are the Unhealthy Thoughts the illegal thoughts? But it is interesting in China that you never know what is legal and what is illegal, because the Communist Party leads the legal system and never establishes a real solid standard to build a clear-cut law system. So you never know whether you really break the law or not. Go back to "Unhealthy Thoughts", it is the Party who defines what is healthy and what is unhealthy. The standard, in fact, is simple: the Party defines it healthy, then it is healthy; the Party defines it unhealthy, then it is unhealthy. Here comes the question: does the Tibetan religion belong to "Unhealthy Thoughts"? Well, it depends. For example, Dalai Lama's religion surely belongs to Unhealthy Thoughts according ...

Video: NBC's Jay Leno jokes about China's dead pigs

Image
A health worker lowers dead pigs into a processing pit, where the carcasses will be fermented into organic fertilisers in Zhuji city, Zhejiang province. Photo: AP Jay Leno, the host of NBC's popular The Tonight Show with Jay Leno recently joked about recent reports of dead pigs being left to float in China's rivers. China's dead pigs are making a name for themselves overseas. Some four minutes into the video, Leno says: "It seems the number of dead pigs found floating in a river in Shanghai has risen to over 13,000. Officials suspect they ended up in the river because farmers upstream are throwing pigs they thought had died of disease into the water. Either that, or someone was playing the world's largest game of Angry Birds." "But what I love is this. Chinese officials said the dead pigs won't affect the quality of drinking water in the river," he continued. "How bad is your drinking water if 13,000 dead rotting pigs don...

North Korea's Earth Hour

Image
For years we have known that North Korea is implementing its own Songun Politics or military-first politics, but no one knows that North Korea is implementing world's largest environment-protecting politics and succeeds in turning its country to the most environmentally-friendly country, and you can see they turned all their lights off for the Earth Hour. It is said they keep turning off their lights, as well as other electron-instruments, from time to time as if they do not need electricity. Vow, they have done a good job in protecting environment!

Caging the power? No, Caged by the power

Image
In the late January, 2013, Mr. Xi Jinping, then as the General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, announced that " power should be restricted by the cage of regulation " to fight the corruption of the Party. Well, we know it is always easier to say than to do. Just take Xi's announcement as kind of advertisement, as you know, Xi has to promote his own party because he is their leader now, what else can he do to save a declining organization? But, will his words become true? It is quite doubtful. The reasons are simple: 1, you need to differentiate the Party and the Government, their control, their duties, etc., then you can decide what the Party should do and should not do; 2, you need a independent legal system to examine the Party and the Government. If the two requirements are not fulfilled, it will not be that people caging the power, but people caged by the power.

How to expose Chinese media's photo-stealing?

Image
Look at the photo above, can you see something interesting on it? It is known that many Chinese media, including governmental ones, directly use photos downloaded from the internet without paying the copyright or making some statement, and it is worse for these shameless media to print their own logo on the pictures, making it seems that they own the photo. The picture above is a proof, you can see the logo of Global Times , which is a government-owned website and a well-known radical nationalist media,   in the lower right corner. However, this photo of Japanese DDH warship was taken by a Japanese guy, and he is surely a smart guy! He added a secret watermark on the picture using two words which have been definitely forbidden for Chinese media to prove his ownership. If you watch this picture from any side of your computer, i.e., not so directly in front of it, you would see two words " Free Tibet " on the right of the second floor of the warship from below. The two w...

The difference between Obama and Xi Jiping the two presidents

Image
What is the difference between Obama the US president and Xi Jinping the Chinese president? Just look at the pictures, the difference is: Xi Jinping may always take Peng Liyuan, his own wife, with himself when in business trips; Obama always takes Hillary Clinton, Clinton's wife, with him when in business trips.

The election of every Chinese president: from Mao Zedong to Xi Jinping

Image
Today let's take a loot at the every Chinese president's election. The first one, Mao Zedong, among all of the members of NPC, short for National People's Congress, 1210 Yes, 0 No, and 0 Abstaining. Well, you know the special era, everyone in China regarded Chairman Mao as the real pope for China, everyone kept reciting "Long Live Chairman Mao" daily. Now Chinese people made progress. We know that it is too fake to see a 100% support. So you see here comes the result of Mr. Xi Jiping's election: among all of the members of NPC, 2952 Yes, 1 No and 3 Abstaining. You know, we have to fake some opposition in the election in order to show that there is democracy in China . A rumor is that it was Mr. Xi Jiping who voted against himself. Well, he had reason to do that if he thought himself under-qualified for the position, he can speak to the the public 5 years later when his office is due: "Hey, don't blame me for my bad policy for the country, I k...

Mainland China's PS skills

Image
The difference between the two pictures is so obvious for readers. The left, original version published in Taiwan, with Dalai Lama's portray on the wall. The right, introduced version published in Mainland China, without Dalai Lama's portray. Well, you know, business is business, Chinese press have to consider the market and the censorship, anyway, they have been used to that. After all, they have erased many other illegal pictures.

How can you compete against Chinese companies?

Image
Be trembling, those business men who want to compete against Chinese companies! The picture above is a screenshot of the governmental CCTV news. The host compared the proportion of the wage-spending/operation-cost between developed countries and China, and found, not surprisingly at all, that wage-spending accounts 50% of the companies' operation cost in developed countries (left in the picture) but only 10% in China (right in the picture). So how can you compete against "Made in China"? It's impossible, because we Chinese companies do not pay worker at all. But this might be a good news for those who want to set their plants in Mainland China, if you want to cut your cost. Oh, I don't mean those blood factories belonging to Apple, inc.

We knew Xi would be president because we saw the white smoke!

Image
Leo : Everyone knows that the new Pope has been elected after seeing the white smoke out from the Sistine Chapel. In China, we do this much more efficiently! See, Mr. Xi Jinping was elected Chinese president on March 14th, 2013. But every Chinese already knew the result last year. The reason is simple: Beijing has been coated by white smoke since the last year.

China's internet censorship

Image
China builds GFW (short for "Great Firewall") for internet censorship and information control. GFW is a system made up of government departments, national police, military power and many companies. It examines every word of each webpage and records automatically those webpages with sensitive words . Those webpages regarded as anti-government will be deleted as soon as possible and the author will be arrested for further questioning if necessary. By the way, this is the reason why no one should easily trust Chinese media, especially those so-called official media.

The true relationship between China and North Korea

Image
Some western people may over-estimate China's influence to North Korea, In fact, North Korea makes use of Chinese government's need of stabilizing domestic society (so-called "wei wen") and keeps strengthen its own military power.

Brainwashing cartoon: Why the Communist Party is Good

Image
This is the front cover of a cartoon book named "Why the Communist Party is good". Ironically this book, which is a propaganda book of a party, is published specially for the 18th National People's Congress.

Mao Xinyu, Mao Zedong's grandson, sitting alone in the Hall

Image
This is a really good photo taken by the journalist. Mao Xinyu, Mao Zedong's grandson, seats himself alone in the middle of the conference hall. This is really a good metaphor of Mao Zedong's image in people's mind nowadays.

North Korea's big movie: Life of Pig

Image

Chinese Oscar Movie: Life of Pig

Image
Over 2,200 dead pigs were found in Chinese river. The carcasses were probably dumped in the Huangpu river in Zhejiang province and the total number was expected to increase, the Global Times quoted Xu Rong, director of Shanghai Songjiang District Environmental Protection Bureau, as saying. Up till now, the bureau still refuse to give a formal explanation to the pig-floating.

Chinese local governments Detain most charitable donations

Image
In a TV interview, a girl from Shenzhen, China disclosed a shocking story: her family had begun to fund a poor student in Jinggang Shan since 1993. After his graduation from high school, the student boy came to Guangdong Province hoping to find a job with the assistance of her family. During the chat, the student thanked the family for having funded him for RMB 40 every year. The girl's mother was so shocked because she sent at least RMB 400! And no letters sent had been received. The student said that 4 or 5 of his classmates also received only RMB 40 per year. Then, where is the rest of the money?

Guangzhou: Urban police arrested a woman-peddler right on her daughter's face

Image
March 6th, 2013, Guangzhou, China. An urban policeman harshly arrested a woman-peddler as she was said to stain the appearance of the city . The arrest took place right in front of the woman's two-year-old daughter. The daughter wanted to hug her mother to stop the arrest, but the mother was unable to hug her daughter as her hands were handcuffed behind. According to certain Chinese urban management laws, the mother would have to pay some fine depending on her cooperative attitude before she could be freed. And a Chinese painter made a drawing online according to this event(below).

Without the Communist Party, there would be no Buddha!

The words on the photo means: Without the Communist Party, there would be no Buddha! This ridiculous slogan indicates how Chinese communist party intervenes the domestic religions rudely.

Hong Kong limits travelers to transport infant milk powder to Mainland China

Image
The Hong Kong government limits travelers crossing the border to transport two tins of infant milk powder or 1.8kg in total to Mainland China, as public concern over shortages reached fever pitch. This policy humiliates the Mainland government, as it is unable to offer clean milk powder to all the infants, except those who are offspring of bureaucrats, in Mainland.
