Li Na, the woman tennis player, not well educated?

Sun Jinfang, China's tennis chief lately said in a TV interview that the lack of systematic education has been the root of Li Na's weak nerves that led to a sudden meltdown during games.

She said, "We've seen lots of meltdowns on Li in recent months. It's quite normal, in my opinion, to an old-school Chinese sportswoman who didn't receive enough education to have a strong mind."

This declaration surely aroused Chinese netizens' heated discussion. Someone even replied in weibo (a twitter-like weblog) from Li Na's position, compared Li Na and Liu Xiang the athlete, and questioned angrily why the national sports administrative treated the two discriminatively. Moreover, the netizen pointed out, the reason why the chief liked to criticize Li Na was because Li Na was not obedient to their orders.

Sun Jinfang's criticism to Li Na was a joke. It was well known that almost all the Chinese sportsmen and sportswomen had to devoted all their mind and energy to training since their childhood. They have few time in accepting good education. So lacking education was popular among Chinese sportsmen and sportswomen, but some among them succeeded in living normal lives and some other failed. Did the lack of education really matter as Sun said? I don't think so.

Sun's words demonstrated her rudeness to sportsmen/sportswomen, she might think that all of them were money-making machines for her and should listen to her, but she was too arrogant to underestimate the public's reaction.
