Japan has agreed to buy disputed East China Sea islets (as Diaoyu islands in China or Senkaku islands in Japan), claimed by both Tokyo and Beijing, from their private Japanese owners, which was regarded as a move likely to fuel tensions between Asia's two largest economies.
As the news spread, the fury of the public in China was aroused, and many people claimed angrily online that Diaoyu islands belonged to China and they would fight against Japan for the islands, (or at least they would call for boycotting Japanese merchandise like Japanese cars or cameras. Well, to boycott Japan is nothing but a coward reaction, especially to show one's patriotism by destroying others' belongings, as I said before.)
However, I myself bet that there will surely be NO war of Diaoyu islands/Senkaku islands between China and Japan. The reasons are too simple:
1, Senkaku islands are covered in the Security Treaty Between the United States and Japan, and in Article I, the treaty said armed forces may be utilized to contribute to the security of Japan against armed attack from outside power or powers. Once China decided to start a war against Japan, it actually will have to start a war against the US, which will be unacceptable for China.
2, The communist party of China also is unwilling to start the war of Diaoyu islands, as it has something much more important to do: to decide the chair and the board for the whole party in the coming big conference. They have to concentrate on internal affairs rather than something outside, even it is the problem on territory.
3, The Chinese government has to demonstrate its patriotism to claim the territory of Diaoyu islands, because it has to do so to let the public believe it still care about the land of China.
